Simple CTF Our objective here today is to solve the room in the website named tryhackme called "Simple CTF" In this room we have to gain access to the remote user's machine that is deployed in the website and discover the flags and also use some of the information we gathered using various tools to answer some of the questions in the room. Task 0 - Connecting to the TryHackMe network To access and ping the deployed machine in the website, we have to first connect to the website's network using openvpn software. The instructions to configure the connection can be found here: https://tryhackme.com/room/openvpn Task 1-#1, #2The first question asks us the number of ports that are under a 1000 and which service is running on the higher port which is port 2222. To find out the services running on the open port we can use the command "nmap -sV [Machine_IP]". We find that the website uses "OpenSSH" service on port 2222 which we can use to get access to the target machine. |
